Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew she was going to become an actress and for a number of years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied singing dancing and acting. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was found by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut film coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The most successful film of 2001 The film broke records in its first day sales as well as the opening weekend's earnings. Film critics praised the film as well as the performance of three young stars. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her impressive performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of the Film.
